Year 6 sing to local residents
The Year 6 gave the greatest gift - their time and their voices - to help bring the Christmas spirit to local residents in Alderley Edge.
A truely generous gift which gave the residents of Holmfield an early Christmas present.
Y6 Christmas Packaging
The Year 6 children have been examining and working on various sorts of packaging for the last few weeks.
They have thought of names for their chocolates and designed and constructed their own packaging for their chocolates.
The children's designs are absolutely wonderful and have a very professional looking finish.

The process included designing and producing their scenes which were shared with a delighted audience of Year 2 children.
Furthering their skills, some children went on to record their plays on the iPads and then edit them too! Watch this space!
Christmas Tree Festival
Our children were invited to take part in the annual Christmas Tree Festival at the Methodist Church in Alderley Edge.
Local groups within our community have also been invited and displayed a variety of designs on their trees.
Every child in school, from Reception to Year 6, created a star design with a message of peace, joy or hope for others this Christmas time.
You can see the tree yourself, it has pride of place in the foyer of the Methodist Church and will be there all weekend. The tree will then return to and be displayed in school.
The Reception Class shop at Waitrose!!
The Reception children had a wonderful morning visiting the Alderley Edge Waitrose Store.
In the store, they carefully read their shopping lists and enjoyed finding the ingredients needed to make honey biscuits.
Mrs Gallimore was extremely proud of how polite and well mannered the children were during their visit to Waitrose and how very well behaved they were walking through the village.
In the afternoon, they made their own honey biscuits! The children designed the packaging for their biscuits, and then took them home to share with their family!
Years 5 and 6 met with 2 players, originally from Canada, from the Ice hockey team, Manchester Storm.
There was an opportunity to learn about the game and some of the skills needed and one lucky Year 5 got to dress up in the protective gear!
There was also the offer of free ice skating with some of the players every Saturday after the matches, see their website for details manchesterstorm.com

Year 3 spent a lovely day travelling down the River Nile at the museum in Macclesfield!
The children became Egyptologists and were keen to share their knowledge and facts they had learnt.
They behaved brilliantly and were very polite to all the helpers. They especially loved learning about the afterlife and actually seeing a sarcophagus was amazing!

Some great football from the boys. Great sportsmanship from them all. They won 1 but lost 2. Well done on a great effort by the boys!!

Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress.
This is the 4th year in a row school has achieved this award thanks in a large part to the commitment and development of PE by Mrs Di Clee) - PE Teacher.
Year 5 and 6 take up squash
The Y5 and 6 children have just completed 4 weeks of squash at Alderley Edge Squash Club. After a brisk walk down to the club the children learnt the basic skills of squash. They were taught some of the rules and played small games. They soon realised that squash is quite an energetic game and they needed to always be ready and react quickly to where the ball would bounce. After the final session all the children were given a letter with details of coaching opportunities for juniors, which takes place on a Friday evening at the squash club.
