Summer Term 1 2015

Year 6 Residential - Below is a selection of photos from the whole week

Year 6 Residential to Pensarn

Pensarn is situated on the Welsh coast and after a two hour journey the children explored their new home including the round house - an optional sleeping quarters for the staff!!

Tuesday Morning - Update

Groups all ready to go after breakfast - groups will be rock climbing, sailing, kayaking and completing initiative group activities (not all at the same time though!!) today.

One group off on the minibus to go rock climbing!!  All look very happy - I hear they had a great time!!

Photos show the children getting ready for orienteering and taking part in the team work/initiative exercises!

The children have had another fantastic day sailing, gorge walking and after tea they walked to the beach where they stayed until nearly sunset.

More fun climbing and gorge walking

Jumping in to the freezing water especially a 10 metre deep gorge was not for the faint hearted but they all did it!!  Click and play below to see more.

Sailing conditions were perfect which allowed the children to learn and master the basics of sailing.  By the end of the session they could head in any direction and turn quite easily.

Alderley Edge May Fair

Congratulations to Amy (May Queen), all the children who joined the parade and the School Choir - we are proud of you all!!

Amy did a fantastic job of being the Alderley Edge May Queen 2015. It was great to see so many children dressed up in their fancy dress costumes and joining the parade through the village. Finally, the choir sang beautifully to round off a wonderful day for the school.

PTA Bales Race 2015

A brilliant event, well organised, well supported and well run by the children too!!  The whole school took part in the Bales Race today and despite the sunshine and warm weather (which was very welcome for the spectators) the children ran some of their best times ever!!

AECP School Choir

The School Choir (mixture of Year 4, 5 and 6 boys and girls) sang at the Alderley Edge Music Festival. They sang fantastically well and gained second place.

We hope you enjoy listening to the choir

Year 2 Football Team

10 Games 9 Wins 1 Draw 23 Goals Scored 1 Goal conceded

The Year 2 football team played brilliantly at the Cheadle Hulme School Football Festival where they competed against teams from across the South Manchester and East Cheshire area (Altrincham Prep to Brabyns Prep School to Bradshaw Hall School). Well done to the boys who played - a great team spirit combined with excellent skills.

Year 2 Residential - Day 2

The children all returned to school today safe and sound having had a fabulous time in Burwardsley for 2 days. The children were a real credit to themselves and had a great time on their second day digging for ancient artefacts, making replica coil pots as well as bracelets from straw.

Year 2 Residential
A Great First Day
The children enjoyed a fantastic first day when they played at the centre, went for a long walk to find a badger set, climbed a huge hill where each group made a bivvy for the night before walking back to the centre for their tea. The children were really ready for this as it was nearly 5.00pm by this time!! After tea they played out before enjoying toasting marshmellows and have a sing around the fire.

Year 2 Green Fingers

Year 2 have been planting potatoes.

Year 2 have been busy planting their seed potatoes as part of this terms science topic on plants. They have been looking at what plants need to help them grow.

Year 3 Visit Hindu Temple

Year 3 discover more about Hinduism.

Year 3 had a lovely trip to the Hindu Temple in Manchester. We had plenty to look at and experience! All the children were well behaved and asked informative questions.

Y5 Bikeability

Year 5 today learned to control their pedal power in their Level 1 Bikeability course!

Parents went back to school to find out more how maths is taught to their children.

Parents of children from the Reception class to Year 6 enjoyed an informative but fun evening finding out more about how Maths is taught in school.
The slides are available to download from the school website and further information about Maths strategies can be found by clicking on COMMUNITY then SUPPORTING YOUR CHILD AT HOME.

Year 3 and 4 Multi Skills Competition

The Year 3 and 4 children competed well at Wilmslow High School. The Year 3 and 4 children enjoyed competing against three other primary schools in the multi skills festival recently. They did not win but demonstrated a great team spirit and really tried their hardest throughout the afternoon.

Year 3 Boccia Competition

The children enjoyed a lovely afternoon at WHS.

The children had a full hour of great tuition, plenty of opportunity to practice their skills and to learn the rules. They were all extremely well behaved and did a great job representing the school. A big thank you should go to Mr Sachro (WHS PE staff) who did a great job.

Magna Carta Experience

Year 5 took part in the Magna Carta experience at St Philip and St James Church today, which was organised to commemorate 800 year since it was written. They listened to the story from the perspective of a knight, a peasant and archbishop and King John!
Year 6 also had a wonderful experience learning about the Magna Carta and its impact on the people of the era. They learnt to link its importance with today's world. Many thanks to Rev. Jane and her helpers at St. Phillip and St James Church.
