roman invasion in year 4

On Roman Day, Year 4 learnt how to translate from modern numbers to Roman numerals!

They also wrote an instructional leaflet on what it takes to be a successful Roman soldier which they then used outside as they got into their tortoise formation, ready for battle!

After researching Roman architecture and looking at the Roman religious beliefs, year 4 created beautiful busts of the Roman king of all Gods; Jupiter.

In the afternoon, they acted as real life archaeologists by using tools to carefully uncover Roman artefacts which we used to deduce what they could  tell about their lives. 

Year 4 had so much fun!

Year 4 investigate teeth

In Year 4 they wanted to test how various types of liquids can affect our teeth. They used eggs as they are made out of a similar material to our teeth.

Year 4 decided to test the effect of apple juice, Coco-Cola, Fanta, Vinegar, Coffee and Vinegar with toothpaste.

They want to use our results to write up a lab-report and present it to their teachers who drink a lot of coffee!

Year 2 Inspired by Mondarian

During our whole school focus on 'The Colour Monster', Year two were inspired by the Dutch artist Piet Mondarian. 

They particularly enjoyed looking at Mondarian's abstract art using primary colours. 

The children learnt that abstract paintings show ideas more than pictures.  I hope you enjoying looking at Year two's interpretation!

Year 4 Use Drama to interpret books

Year 4 performed a dramatic representation of an important scene from 'The Lost Happy Endings' where Jub was anguished because children all over the world have no more happy endings in their stories!

The children used drama to really empathise with the characters and understand the story

Year 5's busy start to the year

Year 5 have got off to a flying start this Year!

They have been busy creating works of art in the style of Monet, colour diamond poems and investigating water lilies for science. All linked to our book The Colour Monster.
