Two children from year 6 represented AECPS and were outstanding. There were some very difficult general knowledge questions but in a tight contest, AECPS triumphed and received a fabulous trophy.

Father Christmas Virtual Visit

YEar 4 learn about Christmas in Italy

The children in year 4 have been learning about how Christmas is celebrated in Italy.

Freddi  talked to her grandad to help us find out what Christmas is like in Italy.

The children learnt about 'Le Befana' an old lady on a broomstick that brings gifts to children down a chimney!

They also tasted an Italian Christmas pudding: 'Pandoro' and 'Panettone'- they loved it!

Year 5 Design and Make Bridges

Year 5 have been learning all about bridges as part of their topic on Revolutionary Railways.

The children have learnt all about how to make and reinforce structures so they are strong and self supporting.

They applied their learning and created fabulous models from their designs.

Year 2 Design Houses

During their D.T. lessons, Year 2 have been exploring different types of houses, (caravans, tepee's, boats, igloos, castles etc) as well as identifying different shapes and features.  After deciding who they were going to make their house for and designing it on paper;  the children then investigated how to join and combine shapes to make their home.  Today, Year 2 made a prototype of their house to try out their design features in 3D!

fantastic frames

Year 3 got off to a great start on day 1 of their Design and Technology project.  After investigating existing frames, they designed their own, made a prototype out of cardboard and carefully considered who they were making their frame for!  They learned about mitre joints and then used a junior hacksaw to cut their own.  What a fabulous day Year 3!

great fun supporting children in need

We had great fun supporting Children in Need this year.

The children raised money by wearing spots and bright colours to school, joining Joe Wicks with his Children in Need fitness children and also doing our own orienteering challenge to find Pudsy Bear.

Some children even did their own sponsored events such as a sponsored silence   which was greatly appreciated by the teachers!

Well done children, you really  have 'Made A Difference'!

learning about diwali

What a lovely morning the Year 3 children had learning about Diwali.

Ananya shared an informative presentation with the class and spoke beautifully about her beliefs and the celebration of Diwali.

The Year 3 children listened with interest and asked Ananya some super questions.  They also received treats at the end of the day.  Thank you Ananya.

Orienteering for children in need

What a fun and energetic afternoon Year 3 had solving the 'Children in Need' orienteering course set up around the school playground!

The children had to work in teams and follow the instructions and maps carefully to find all the clues.

They then had to collect all the letters to make a word.  Back in class the children were busy mapping the different stations on their own maps and then went on to learn about 4 figure grid references!

What a great time they all had!

Reception visit the Caribbean

Reception children were whisked off to the Caribbean this week as they launched into their new topic using the story "Fruits- A Caribbean Counting Poem" as their stimulus.

As the children arrived at school they selected a Lei to wear for the day and entered the decorated classroom listening to steel drum music! They then replicated the Caribbean art work of Kate Spencer.

Later on in the day they used salt dough to create Caribbean fruits using scissors for the bumpy texture of a sweet sop fruit, as well as sorting fruits into those that come from the Caribbean and those that come from the UK.

In writing they wrote lists of the new fruits we had learnt and also created repeating patterns using them in their maths.

What a jam packed, fruit-astic week!
